Occasionally a little comic relief helps all of us keep things in perspective. What follows are a couple of ‘chucklers’ – enjoy.
*Few things can be more frustrating than having to spend your hard earned money on something as frivolous and wasteful as a traffic ticket. People will do anything to avoid forking over the cash. They’ll postpone their hearings, throw themselves on the mercy of the court or simply ignore the ticket – this last choice is the worse because it simply ends up costing the driver more money in additional fees. However, this fellow recognized that it was his civic duty to pay restitution.
It seems it was his mother who had actually received a traffic citation in another state while visiting there in 1954. The gentleman found the citation among his mother’s belongings – and wanting to do the right thing – he marched down to the police station and presented them with both the ticket and the fine. It was a total of ten cents. He paid with a single dime.
*In another case a female driver ran into a police cruiser – and, although no one was injured the cop car was disabled. Being the good citizen that she was – she humbly accepted her ticket for reckless driving – and gave the officer a lift back to the station.
Only in America. Drive safely.
